I have put an embarrassing number of hours into Destiny 2, and I still panic when my movement gets messed up for half a second. So when I saw that Esoterrick completed a solo Master Nightfall without the ability to move, I had to double check the title. No WASD keys. No normal walking. Just abilities, sword swings, and pure Titan stubbornness. The run was The Disgraced Master Nightfall, and honestly, it made me rethink everything I know about playing this game.

For context, Esoterrick is a streamer mostly known for helpful guides and occasional challenge runs. He has soloed some of Destiny's hardest content before. But this time he went a step further. He unbound the WASD keys entirely. That removed the normal movement methods. To get around the map, he had to rely on abilities, sword swings, and the Arc Titan's Thundercrash Super.
The build was the real star here. At the start of the video, his Arc 3.0 Titan was clearly grenade-focused. He ran max Resilience and Discipline. Mods worked with Heart of Inmost Light to give him an absurdly low grenade cooldown. Then he chose Thruster instead of the usual barricade. When used on the ground, Thruster makes your character take a step backward. That backward hop became his main form of movement. His other method was a sword, which allowed quicker dashes over larger distances in emergencies.
Here is a quick breakdown of what made the build work:
| Piece | Role |
|---|---|
| Arc 3.0 Titan with Heart of Inmost Light | Faster ability regen, especially grenades |
| Thruster | Backward step used as primary movement |
| Sword | Emergency dash for repositioning |
| Storm Grenades | Main damage against mobs and mini-bosses |
| Osteo Striga | Add clear without needing special ammo |
| Solar Scout Rifle | Anti-barrier champion coverage |
| Thundercrash Super | Travel between combat areas |
One thing that stood out to me was how he used Thundercrash. Normally that Super is for deleting bosses. In this run, Esoterrick used it purely to get around. Storm Grenades were the real damage dealers. They could erase whole packs of enemies and even mini-bosses at once. Osteo Striga handled random adds. A Solar Scout Rifle provided anti-barrier coverage. A primary was better here because Esoterrick could not move to pick up special ammo. The sword could slice a few enemies that got too close, but grenade spam was the actual workhorse.
His progress was slow and methodical. He wiped out each room. He killed champions as they appeared. When caught out, he whipped out the sword to dash back to cover. Then he turned his back every time he wanted to take steps forward again. If you have ever tried to move using Thruster on purpose, you know it is not a mobility tool. It is a tiny backward hop. With enough patience, though, it becomes a way to shuffle across the map. I cannot imagine the focus required to do that for a full Master Nightfall. I have messed around with Thruster in PvP, and it barely saves me. Watching someone use it as their only forward option was hilarious and humbling.
Thundercrash also filled the empty stretches between combat encounters. That is such a weird mental shift. Usually you save your Super for the boss or a panic moment. Here it was basically a commute button.
The final time was around 18 minutes. That is not a speedrun record by any stretch. But for a no-WASD Master Nightfall clear, it is wildly respectable. Most players struggle with this strike even with full movement. I have watched fireteams wipe in the boss room with all abilities ready and normal walking fully intact.
Even in 2026, this run still feels impressive. The meta has changed, but the lesson has not. Movement is important, but buildcraft, positioning, and understanding enemy spawns can carry you through content even when your basic inputs are removed. Now someone should challenge Esoterrick to beat a Nightfall without left-clicking. I would watch that too.
